Colleges Week 2011 – Connecting with communities

Colleges Week 2011 has one clear aim – to help YOUR College connect with the communities it serves and reach out to unfamiliar or new audiences, boosting your profile as part of a national campaign to promote the benefits of College education and training.

From 26th September-2nd October, Colleges around the country will be getting involved in a range of simple yet powerful initiatives designed to engage more young people, parents, adult students and businesses by showcasing the range of courses on offer and the excellence of their teaching. In these pages you can find all the information and practical support you need to help YOU to be one of them.

To deliver maximum impact for our national campaign and your College’s activities, this year Colleges Week is being held in the run up to WorldSkills London 2011, the world’s biggest education competition. Through linking the two events we really want to celebrate the value of College life, skills and careers in the UK.

It’s easy to take part in Colleges Week 2011 – glance over the four campaigns on the 'Get Involved' page, decide which one, two, three or even four of the initiatives you’d like to participate in and click on the ‘find out more’ tabs to get started. There should be something to appeal to all types of Colleges within the week.

Let us know what you’re planning

We’d love to help publicise your activities by posting details on our news pages, so let us know what you’re planning and send us an update and photos of how it went afterwards. The Colleges Week PR team are also on hand help advise you on how to promote your events in the media.
